What began as a modest two-man operation in a backyard shed has grown into one of the Wimmera-Mallee’s leading electrical, plumbing, and HVAC service providers.

1969
G.F & J.D Coutts Pty Ltd commences business in Palk Street, Horsham.
1978
Branch set up in Warrnambool followed by Portland three years later, employing a total of 9 local staff
1989
Gary and Jill’s son Matt starts apprenticeship with the business.
1990
Business relocates to Mary Street, Horsham.
1999
Matt takes over the family business from a small backyard workshop with one employee. Now trading as Coutts Electrical Pty Ltd, the business completes its first commercial project, electrical work at Horsham Regional Livestock Exchange.
2002
Business changes name to Coutts Electrical and Data Pty Ltd to incorporate expanding skillset and relocates to a larger premises in Hamilton Street, Horsham.
2004
Business starts supplying and installing split-system air-conditioners, marking the start of a successful HVAC division. Innovative Lighting retail arm opens at Hamilton Street site. The business now employs 21 staff and has 11 vans on the road.
2006
To provide a better service to customers, Matt makes the decision to join the Laser Group. Business changes name to Laser Electrical Horsham, employs 25 staff.
2007
Named Laser Group Australian Franchisee of the Year (out of 80 members).
2013
Business moves to 89 Plumpton Road, Horsham. Employs 34 staff.
2014
Laser welcomes new business partners Brad Stewart & Corey Tucker, who’s expertise will enable the business to pursue its vision of growth and diversification.
2016
Business expands to include Laser Plumbing Horsham, adding nine plumbers and bringing the number of staff employed to 42.
2018
Business completes its largest project since establishment, a $4.1-million electrical contract for the new Ararat Intermediate Secure Facility.
2021
Additional technical staff and business success facilitates expansion of administration department. Laser continues to strengthen their senior leadership, inviting Leigh Stewart to the ownership group. Employs 64 staff.
2024
Laser Plumbing & Electrical Horsham formally establishes company values, increases leadership training as it looks to the future. Now has a combined staff of 73.
